The Morning Service in St Mary’s Church last Sunday was Holy Communion given by our Rector the Rev Alex Wheatley. The Rev Alex will also take next Sunday’s service at 10.30am, also Holy Communion. At 3pm later the same day, October 17th, there will be a special Civic Service in St Mary’s Church starting at 3pm. The Rev Alex will welcome into our church, invited members of our community who will be attending Potton’s Annual Civic Service held to celebrate the background work done by our Town and District Councillors, and council workers who provide us with facilities such as the library, the emergency services, our local medical services, schools and much more support in many ways. The choir from the Potton Federation Schools will be taking part and St Mary's Choir will lead the hymn singing. Please do not attend unless you have an invitation as the church still cannot fill all the seating due to COVID current social spacing rules.

St Mary’s hosted the Little Stars service on Sunday evening which was part of this year’s Baby Loss Week and 33 people came along to remember their lost children and say prayers for them. The Service was led by Rev Alex Wheatley and live music was provided by Sarah and Heather from the NightLight Singers, and appropriate recorded music was also played. A Truly comforting evening for those remembering their Lost Children. Thank you to all who came and to the Organisers.

First Steps, our baby and toddler group meet in the Church Hall every Friday from 9.30am to 11.30am and entry cost is only £1.50 per family and includes tea/coffee, cake, snacks, chatter and for the little ones, lots of toys to play with! For further information, contact Sandy on 01767 260430. Our other group who meet regularly every fortnight in the Church Hall, is Craft and Chatter, a group for those who have a craft hobby and can share it with like minded people and enjoy some good company with refreshments. The next meeting is on October 15th and an easy way to remember which week is craft night is that it coincides with Potton’s green bin day! The evening starts at 7.30pm and entry is only £3 including the refreshments. If this attracts you, just turn up on the night! Finally, on October 22nd , don’t forget to listen to the Biggles FM Breakfast Show on Friday morning, at 8.15am as Nick Wilson, St Mary’s Church Organist, will once more be the speaker giving his fortnightly Thought for the Day.
