
A Busy Week in and Around St Mary's Church
The Berkley Ensemble at this time playing the Beethoven Septet in E flat Major, Opus 20. This was in 6 movements and mostly written in 1799 Last week, I mentioned the fact that now the choir and the singing of hymns at our services has now returned, more people were coming to our morning service on a Sunday morning. The Welcome Return of Hymn Singing led by St Mary's Choir last Sunday
With the return of live music and hymn singing at St Mary’s last Sunday to accompany the service of Holy Communion, led by our Rector, the Rev Alex Wheatley, there was a good attendance for our usual morning service. The singing, was probably the last element of the traditional service to be restored and there was no doubt that the congregation enjoyed the experience with favourite hymns being led once more by St Mary’s Church Choir. Sunday’s morning service of Holy Communion last weekend was conducted by the Rector, the Rev Alex Wheatley. During the service, the Rev Alex announced that as from next Sunday, the Church Choir would return and would lead the congregation in singing hymns and also sing once more from their repertoire of anthems. This announcement was greeted with a round of applause as we have had little music since the first lockdown last year so it will be good to hear our own music back in

Friends and Family Services return to St Mary's in October
On a pleasantly warm morning, we had a good size congregation for our first service in September, the Service of the Word with Rdr Simon Gutteridge.
