Nick has some great stories and anecdotes and is well worth listening to! In the absence of a Parish Priest at this time, Nick has agreed with BigglesFM, to give a fortnightly talk to help everyone keep in touch with events at the church until such time as a new Rector is appointed and hopefully takes to the airwaves! Last Sunday for the Morning Service, our former Rural Dean, the Rev Canon Lyndsay Dew led the shorter format service of Holy Communion with the aid of the Children and thei

Yesterday at St Mary's Church

Last Sunday morning the Service of Holy Communion was conducted by the Rev Gill Orpin, one of our team of visiting Priests during our Interregnum. In her sermon, the Rev Gill spoke of the Prophesy of Jeremiah, how he became a Prophet and how this affected his life. In the evening, we hosted a wonderful service called “Little Stars” which was our contribution to the National Baby Loss Week. Rdr Simon Gutteridge led a service for many young, and some not so young, parents who came to remember babies and young children they have lost in past times, from miscarriage, still birth or illness. About 60 people came to this gentle service of prayer, music, remembrance and the chance to light a candl

TODAY - LITTLE STARS Part of the National Baby Loss Week

At 6.30pm today Sunday October 13th, we are once again holding our “Little Stars Service”, an evening of Support and Remembrance to commemorate the loss of a baby or young child and to allow those who have lost a young one to share their feelings with others. This is a lovely service, part of the National Baby Loss Week, organised by people who themselves have suffered a loss, and all who have had this happen are very welcome to join us and maybe stay and have a chat after the service. We hope to see you there if this affects you in any way.

Friends and Family and a Harvest theme

This morning, we held our monthly Friends and Family Service. The theme for this month was the Harvest, but with a bit of a difference. Instead of bringing in the traditional produce from the local fields, everyone was asked to bring a gift of confectionary. These would then be given as a gift from St Mary's to maybe people living alone or those that are unwell and need a bit of cheering up. These gifts will be distributed later to people that have been nominated by Friends or Family. Quite a lot of gift bags were made up for this purpose. The service was led by Reader Simon Gutteridge who also led the Morning Prayer service during the main activities for those who wanted a bit more formalit
