Pentecost on Line

In our Zoom service last Sunday, Rdr Simon guided us into Pentecost, leading us towards Trinity which starts next Sunday. This week, we had a very interesting sermon about Pentecost from Archdeacon Dave from Bedford, sent by video link but as usual the service overall was run by Rdr Simon but with the help of Churchwarden Darren from Sutton Parish, who was doing the technical bit! We had 25 connections this week with 36 people taking part including some new faces who were duly welcomed to our on line congregation. Next week’s ZOOM service for Trinity Sunday will start at 10am so we hope a few more new members can join us. Any member of St Mary’s, or the Benefice overall, who is not on the S

When will life return to normal?

Our Zoom service was back to normal last Sunday, apparently too many morning services across the country overloaded the Zoom servers, but they had fixed the problem, so all was well. We had a new feature this week with Darren acting as controller whilst Rdr Simon concentrated on running the service. This helped with the presentation enormously. We had 20 connections this week with 32 people taking part including some new faces but some of the usual attendees were missing so potentially there could be a larger on line congregation at any time. Rdr Simon guided us through the last of the Easter series of services as next week we enter Pentecost. Any member of St Mary’s who is not on the Sunday

Floral Tribute to Doreen Mitchell in St Mary's Church, with some of her favourite flowers On Friday May 22nd, at 8.15am, St Mary’s Church Organist, Nick Wilson will next give his “Thought for the Day” on BigglesFM, 104.8 on the dial. Nick will be calling in by phone with all the latest church news. Our Zoom service last Sunday nearly didn’t happen. For some reason our group leader, Rdr Simon Gutteridge was unable to open the meeting at 10am and over half the allotted time had gone before we were underway. Even then, there were no pictures of participants but we were able to hear each other. This is our first problem with this system so we hope it was a rare problem that doesn’t recur. We di

We're still ZOOMing along very nicely, thank you!

Our now usual series of Sunday Morning Services via ZOOM continued again last Sunday with 19 connections and just over 30 people taking part. Any member of St Mary’s who is not on the Sunday Link mailing list and wishes to be able receive joining instructions to join us in these services, should contact the church office at benefice.com@gmail.com. Next week’s ZOOM service will start at 10am so we hope a few more can join us. Please note there is no telephone service at the church office at this time. This week’s service included readings, hymns and prayers in a now familiar format, with a little bit of time left for chat amongst those taking part, overall a happy experience once more. There

We've got that Zoom feeling again!

On Friday May 8th, St Mary’s Church Organist, Nick Wilson will next give his “Thought for the Day” on BigglesFM, 104.8 on the dial. Nick will be calling in by phone with all the latest church news. For the fourth Sunday of Easter, St Mary’s Church again had a “Virtual Service” led by Reader Simon Gutteridge, a get together, from our homes using the ever popular ZOOM. This week we had 19 connections and 30 people taking part. It was good to see some new faces this week including some members, Derek and Fay, who had moved away from the area but who had heard about our service and looked us up As usual, hymn singing, readings and prayers all had their place in the service and this week, we had
