Church Service informatiomn for the coming week.

The morning service, conducted by the Rev Gill and assisted by our two Churchwardens, was a Choral Holy Communion and by special request of the Rev Gill, during Communion, the choir sang two anthems, “God so Loved the World” from Stainer’s “Crucifiction” and Mozart’s “Ave Verum Corpus”. Next Sunday, it is our ever popular Friends and Family service which will be conducted by Wendy and her team as usual and this month it will be all about “Preparing for Lent”. For anyone who hasn’t yet been to one of these services, there is something for everyone no matter what age group they belong to. Morning Prayer services will be held next week, at Sutton Church on Thursday, and on Tuesday and Friday at St Mary’s, all services at 9am. Our First Steps toddler and baby group meet today as usual in the church hall at 9.30am. Details about the Group can be obtained from Group Organiser, Sandy, on 01767 260430. Fairtrade Fortnight started on 25th February and runs to 10th March. Fair Trade items will be on sale around Potton during this time. Rev Gill Smith has a Birthday today

Today, February 24, was the Rev Gill's Birthday, a happy day for her and a presentation at the end of the Morning Service with the usual singing of Happy Birthday of course. But this will be the last birthday that Gill will spend with us, as she will be retiring later this year, probably in August. St Albans Diocese's 'Living Churchyards Day' wins National Lottery support and is coming

St Albans Diocese has received a National Lottery grant of £7,500 for an exciting heritage project which will spread good practice in managing churchyards for the benefit of wildlife and people. A one day event, made possible by money raised by National Lottery players, will be held in Potton, Bedfordshire, on Saturday July 13th 2019 to draw people from churches and communities across Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire. They will learn about how best to care for their churchyards to benefit wildlife and local communities at the same time bearing in mind the needs of bereaved families and visitors to graves. At 12.45pm on Friday 22nd, in the church hall, the St John’s Hospice Moggerhanger, Potton Support Group are holding their monthly Parish Lunch. There should be places available so why not come along and enjoy a delicious home cooked meal from a menu which offers 5 choices and a dessert for only £7. Our Craft and Chatter group meet on Friday evening, in the Church Hall at 7.30

Annual Parochial Church Meeting and Electoral Registration Forms

St Mary’s APCM annual meeting, will be held on March 24 in church following the morning service. All members are cordially invited. Prior to the meeting, all those registered on St Mary’s Church Electoral Roll, should re-register to be able to vote. Re-registration has to be carried out every 6 years and the forms to do this are now available, individually labelled, on the Sidepersons table at the North Door entrance. Please pick yours’s up and return the completed forms to the Registration Officer as shown. The completed forms should be returned by March 10.

This weekend

Today Today, February 9, we will be holding a Chinese New Year Dinner for the Year of the Pig. This will be an evening dinner in the church hall, 7pm for 7.30pm start, with Chinese dishes cooked by our culinary experts, and with some Chinese traditions introduced during the evening. Tickets costing £20 ph, may still be available from 01767 261206, but be quick, they have been selling well and are nearly all sold!
