Our Sister Churches

St. Marys is blessed to be part of a wider team of churches (also called a Benefice) which includes All Saints Church in the village of Sutton and St. John the Baptist Church in the village of Cockayne Hatley.

These are our sister churches:

This is located in and serves the beautfull village of  Sutton. It has strong links with its local School: Sutton Lower. Its therfore commited to reaching out ito the Village and to school families through events and regular groups.

St. John the Baptist Church

Set in beautiful Bedfordshire countryside St. John the Baptist serves the village of Cockayne Hatley, but also seeks to draw people from a wider area who enjoy worship in traditional language as well as other unique worship experiences such as Taize.

Each church in the team serves a different community and has its own identity. Nevertheless we all share the same vision:

“To be an active group of Christian Churches who strive to serve and connect with their communities and share God’s love.”

There is much that the three churches share in order to support one another: We share:

  • A team of worship and ministry leaders including our Rector.

  • Three Study and Fellowship Groups.

  • A news sheet called the Link (which you can find here)

  • A list of those to pray for.

  • A Life Events (Wedding and Baptisms) Bookings Officer

We also have joint services throughout the year, particularly the Patronal festivals. At these and other services the choir of St. Marys will often sing, giving a greater celebratory sense to those occasions. At time of writing we are also hoping to set up an annual quiet day to enjoy together as a team.
