Why we thank our Retired Ministry Team

Our service of Holy Communion last Sunday was conducted by the Rev Gillian Orpin once again. The Rev Gillian, has conducted quite a few services for us during our vacancy and for that we have been very thankful. But how many of us really know the Rev Gillian? I think the answer to that is, very few. But over the last few weeks of her ministry for us, she has given us many interesting sermons involving her interests and how they fitted in with her church life. Her sermon on Sunday was exceptional, it was a cut down version of her life story and how God had helped her make decisions on where she should work and help others. The story is too long to write here but it involved meeting Dr Billy Graham early on and ending up as a missionary in Thailand. Although in the main this was one of the best times of her career but also there was tragedy as her husband of a few months, lost his life as a result of a robbery, at a time when she was 8 months pregnant with her only son. Eventually, she ended up in our area and we have enjoyed meeting her and enjoying her stories. Thank you Gillian, we will look forward to your next visit.
