We have arrived in Trinity, next stop is Advent!! Also, news of an Ordination!

The weekend at St Mary’s Church started off with three evenings of music and comedy, with three incredible performances in St Mary’s Hall, given by Potton’s very talented Potton Playhouse. A series of playlets and comedy sketches were given by both adult and junior members of Playhouse, and the musical intervals were provided by the members of “Drunken Disorderly” another group with much talent in musical moments, and also based in Potton. Altogether, it led to a good three hours of extremely good entertainment. Well done to the Playhouse team and to their very clever set builders who managed to squeeze 100 seats and a stage set into our rather small hall! We really do need a better, larger “Hall for All” in Potton!

The morning service last Sunday, was led once more by the Revd Alex Wheatley and this week it was our ever popular “Friends and Family” all age activity service. This week we had one of our largest attendances for quite a while as many came to hear the theme of Pentecost and Trinity, as this was the first Sunday of Trinity. The stories and activities during the activity period were tailored to introduce our children with the meaning of Pentecost and Trinity, and how we change from the Easter period, through Pentecost and into Trinity, and this long period in Trinity, will now take us right up to Advent, a long way off as I write! It was a really lovely service this week and we hope this level of attendance will thrive and grow as the year goes on.

Morning Service for June 11th. Next Sunday’s service will be a “Pulpit Swap” with the Revd Alex taking the services at St Swithin’s Church in Sandy, and the Revd Philip Macaulay from Sandy, presiding over services in Potton and Cockayne Hatley. They say that a change is as good as a rest, but I’m sure that won’t be the case as we welcome the Revd Philip to our Sunday service next Sunday.

Mothers Union Summer of Hope Appeal The Mothers' Union will be holding their annual tea party on Thursday, 8th June, in Kimber's barn, 28, King Street at 4.00pm. The cost is £7.00 and all proceeds will go to the M.U. Summer of Hope Appeal. Please let Rosemary know if you would like to attend (tel. no. 01767 261206 or mobile 07753638278). EVERYONE WELCOME. Come and enjoy good food and good company.

An Ordination Service in St Alban’s Cathedral. We are pleased to announce that our trainee priest, Dr Paulet Brown Wilsher, is getting near to the end of her long training period and will receive her Ordination at St Alban’s Cathedral on July 1st at 5pm. Paulet hopes many of the parishioners in the Benefice will be able to attend her service. There will be more information nearer the time, but at this point we must applaud Paulet for her efforts and studies in becoming a Priest which she has been working towards for a very long time. Well done Paulet!
