Watch out for Benefice Events during the Summer!
Last Sunday’s Morning Service was carried out as usual by the Rector, the Revd Alex Wheatley and was a service of Holy Communion. In the evening, the popular monthly evening service, NightLight, was attended by a small congregation and the service was led by the NightLight team. This is a lovely service of music, quiet contemplation, and prayer, but the service always starts with light refreshments. For more information, watch out for next month’s service details.
Our service next Sunday is another one for the children and for new participants to the Holy Communion service. We call this service our Treasure Box service because each child will work through a box with items that can be linked to each element of the Holy Communion Service. This helps children and newcomers to understand how the Communion service, actually works.
Taizé Services Following the success of the Taizé service back in March, St. John the Baptist Church, Cockayne Hatley has decided to hold a further two services this year (with the hope of doing more in 2024): 16 July, 5.30pm, 17 September. 5.30pm
Calling All Singers! We would therefore like to set up a small Taizé group to help lead the singing of the chants. If this is something you would be interested in, then please contact Rev. Alex.
Coming soon, On July 29th, A Delightful Afternoon Tea with Acts from “Pride and Prejudice” by Jane Austen. This will be in the garden at 28 King Street, with two performances: 1- 2.30pm and 3- 4.30pm. Full Afternoon Tea, Tickets £15 available from Cameron’s. The performances will be given by Potton Playhouse.
In Sutton on August 12th, Shakespeare’s “Much Ado About Nothing” performed by “This is My Theatre” Open Air Theatre Company, held in the Old Rectory Gardens, Call 01767 261910 to book. Proceeds to Sutton Church.
Also, Potton on August 13th, will be St Mary’s Annual Patronal Festival Service where we invite other members of our Benefice to join us in this celebration and after the service, invite them to the Patronal Barbecue in the Church Field. The service starts at 10.30am and the BBQ will be from 12 noon.
