Pentecost and a Platinum Jubilee

As we start the week that leads us into the Queens Platinum Jubilee Celebration next weekend, various groups around the town are in the final stages of preparation and round the streets of Potton, more decorated houses are now very noticeable. As the week progresses, St Mary’s will look very colourful with Potton’s team of flower arrangers hard at work, putting in and arranging many beautiful arrangements to express their ideas of celebrating this amazing Jubilee. I think we will all look forward to seeing these displays next weekend. Also, Potton’s Art Group will be putting on a display of many of their original paintings, showing the Town and all the visitors just what talents they have between them.

The morning Holy Communion service last Sunday included the Holy Baptism of baby Phoebe Albone. The church was nearly at full capacity with many family and friends of the Albone family swelling our usual numbers and giving their support to welcome baby Phoebe as a potential new member of St Mary’s in the years to come. It was a beautiful service conducted as usual by the Rev Alex Wheatley.

The service next Sunday, June 5th, will be in the Jubilee marquee on the church field and will be a combined service for St Mary’s and the Salvation Army with the theme of Pentecost, (Whit Sunday) a church season celebrated by both churches. Please come along if you are able to do so.

The annual Mothers' Union tea party will be held on Thursday, 9th June in Kimber's barn, behind 28, King Street. It starts at 4.00pm and all are welcome. The cost is £5 and all profit goes to the Mothers' Union Summer of Hope Appeal.

After the fun of the Jubilee is over, the church groups, First Steps and Craft and Chatter will return to the church hall, at their usual times on June 10th. For more information, see next weekends “Sunday Link” newsletter, which will be published mid week. Also back on this day, we can hear our organist, Nick Wilson, giving his thought for the day on BigglesFM at 8.15am, 104.8 on the dial!

Services for Next Sunday, June 5th, Pentecost

St Mary's Pentecost & Jubilee Service.

This all age service will take place at 10am on Sunday 5th of June in the Marquee on St. Marys Field, not in the church. This will be a joint service with our Salvation Army friends.

We hope that, after a long weekend of Jubilee celebrations, you won't forget Night Light this Sunday evening, 5th June.

We will be meeting in church from 7.15pm for refreshments, with the service starting at 7.30pm. The theme this month is Walls and Boundaries. We look forward to seeing you. Sorry the ZOOM Link for the service is not available this week
