Normality in our Worship, slowly returns

Now the summer holidays have started with the schools breaking up and families off to far off places or maybe to visit Grandparents who they haven’t seen for a long while, St Mary’s Church was perhaps a little quieter for the Morning Service on Sunday. The Rev Gillian Orpin conducted the service of Holy Communion for the last time in her series of stand in duties during the absence of the Rev Alex Wheatley, our Rector. Rev Alex is now fit and well and will be leading some services in the Benefice next Sunday morning, August 1st. Visitors to Potton are very welcome to join our regular congregation at 10.30am.

During the summer weeks, the church will carry on with the regular schedule and will also be open on Wednesdays and Thursdays for visitors for quiet prayer and meditation. The opening times are 9am to 4pm. The church will be locked on other days. The Covid restrictions should gradually be lifted, but we will proceed with caution!

Nick Wilson our church organist, gave his usual “Thought for the Day” on BigglesFM last Friday morning, but as usual many other topics and anecdotes were introduced during the programme which included items from Nick’s Army days and much more. To hear more of this lively banter and his next thought for the day, tune in on Friday August 13th and forget that it’s a Friday 13th, with Nick keeping us entertained, 8.15am, at 104.8 on the dial, don’t forget!
