Many of us have had our first Jab, have you had yours yet?

Another Sunday, and another Zoom Morning Service of the Word, that was our situation at the weekend, but we have refined the flow of these services down almost to a fine art and they have been a very welcome addition to our normal Sunday Morning Service pattern. Our service was well attended as usual and was led this week by Paulet Brown-Wisher assisted by Rdr David Kilpatrick. Next Sunday, February 7th, will again be a Service of the Word, this time led by Dawn Kerridge, a Sutton Churchwarden. Full details on how to join the service can be found on our website and Facebook page.

It was pleasing to learn at our Sunday gathering, that many of our elderly church members and some that are NHS workers, have now received their first dose of the Covid-19 Vaccine. It will be even better when the vast majority of our UK population are at the same point and barring further EU interference, this will happen as planned, then we can all breathe a little better and hopefully return to a more normal life once more.

More news from our new Rector, the Rev Alex Wheatley, to say he is really looking forward to his move very soon and all being well, he should be able to take his first services with us by the end of March, and certainly by Easter shortly afterwards. We are all looking forward to his arrival which will close our vacancy of 21 months, since our lovely former Rector, the Rev Gill Smith, retired. Here is a letter from the Rev Alex introducing himself:

Hello everyone. My name is Alex Wheatley and (all being well) from 25th of March I will be the new Rector for the parish churches in Potton, Sutton, and Cockayne Hatley! I’m looking forward to joining these communities and residing in Potton. Obviously, due to our difficult national circumstances it is likely that I won’t meet many people initially, but in time I’m looking forward to meeting Potton’s people and understanding this community’s dynamics. Until then, please be assured of my prayers for you all at a difficult time.

Next Week’s 10.30am Benefice Service, 7th February, the Second Sunday before Lent, will be Service of the Word by Zoom and will be led by: Sutton Churchwarden Dawn Kerridge. Details of how to join the service can be found on our website or our Facebook page.

Please take care and pray to stay safe from this pandemic.
