Going deeper in to God - Transforming Communities - Making new Disciples
Listen to our Organist, Nick Wilson, next Friday on BigglesFM
Organist Nick Wilson, this time playing his Flute
We enjoyed another nice service of Holy Communion with our retired Priest and friend the Rev Gillian Orpin on Sunday. It was nice and cool in St Mary’s compared to the heat wave outside and the Rev Gillian gave us another of her series of interesting sermons in her usual “cool” manner. Rev Gillian will be with us at 10.30am next Sunday which will be her last service with us for the time being with the return of the Rev Alex the following week. The Rev Alex tells us he is much better now after his recent illness and those that have seen him tell us he looks well, so we are looking forward to his return in early August.
On Friday last week, we hosted the funeral of Arthur Smith from the Traveller site in Potton. The church was packed with his family members and friends and it was a lovely service led by Rdr Rosemary Bentley from Biggleswade. His family life was portrayed in a large screen presentation during the service, photographs of his life in Potton and a great choice of music playing in the background. The service was followed by the usual procession to the cemetery where Arthur was laid to rest. It really was a privilege for St Mary’s members helping to steward the service, to have been there. RIP Arthur.
Nick Wilson, St Mary’s Church Organist, will be the guest speaker on the Biggles FM Breakfast Show on Friday morning, July 23rd, at 8.15am giving his fortnightly Thought for the Day. Tune in to 104.8 on the dial to Listen to Nick to find out all the latest church news, and no doubt a few more of his favourite anecdotes!
