Lent Continues

With last week’s service all about the Ukraine invasion, and full of prayer for the people in Ukraine, this week’s service was very different. We did not forget the people of Ukraine in our prayers this week, but it was also the re-start of our very popular Friends and Family Service after what seemed like a lifetime break because of Covid. It was a lovely service presented by the Rev Alex Wheatley, built round the theme of Lent, a period in the church year that we are now in. St Mary’s have a fundraising scheme to help others in our area, donating the cost of some meals and then having a smaller more basic meal themselves. This was very successful last year and two local charities received a healthy donation from us. This year we are doing something similar and again hope to make more healthy donations. Anyone can join in, not just our members so if you would like to make a donation or two, please contact the Rector, Rev Alex 01767 764062, or a church member. Next week’s service will be Holy Communion, with the Rev Alex.

Thought for the Day, BigglesFM

Nick Wilson, St Mary's Church organist, will present his popular "Thought for the Day" on Friday March 11th, during Alan’s Breakfast Show on BigglesFM, 104.8Mhz on the dial. Don't forget to tune in!

St Patrick’s Day Quiz Night

Not quite on the real St Patrick’s Day, but as close as we could make it, an “Irish Themed Quiz Evening”, 7.30pm on March 19th in the church hall. Cost will be £15 per head at the door for teams of 4-6, and the cost includes a hot Irish or vegetable Stew, nibbles, cakes, you name it, we will have it, hopefully. There will be a bar in addition. No need to book, just come with your friends or family. Our quiz evenings are great fun, so please come along, maybe for the first time, and you will be made very welcome.
