Could this be the start of a normal British Summer?

What a beautiful morning to return to church this Sunday, following my unwanted spell of Covid. I lost the infamous “negative” tag about 3 days ago and I’m pleased to say that apart from lacking my normal energy, I feel fine and so does my other half! But please don’t drop your guard on Covid, it’s still very much with us so we still need to be careful.

The morning’s service on Sunday, was the “new” monthly Choral Holy Communion. This is a service that has been re-introduced this month and follows the normal communion format, but with extra anthems or other music sung by the church choir during the service. It is hoped to bring back the full impact of the music, as we haven’t been able to do this since our former choir master, David Barker, passed away 3 years ago. We have not been able to fill this post since then, so the choir, under the leadership of one of our more experienced members, has taken it upon themselves to re-organise and hopefully bring back some of the flair introduced by the late David. The service was led by the Rector, the Rev Alex Wheatley, who will also conduct next Sunday’s morning Communion service.

The Parish Lunch for July

The next Parish Lunch to support St John's Hospice, Moggerhanger will be held in St Mary's church hall on Friday 29th July, at 12.45pm. The cost is £8 for a tasty two course meal and payment is taken at the door. Please support this enjoyable event for a very worthwhile cause. There are places available but if you haven’t been before but want to make sure of a place, please call the number below. We also have a raffle and you can donate a prize if you wish. Food items must be in date, we do check, and any cuddly toys must be spotless and if possible in the original wrapping. However, we do need more people to help prepare a main course or dessert for the lunch, costs can be re-imbursed. During the summer break, our “First Steps” toddler and baby group are hoping to carry on at the usual time and venue, 9,30am every Friday at St Mary’s Church Hall, Hatley Road, Potton. If you haven’t been before with your “little’un” please call Sandy on 01767 260430 for further details.
