Ascension Day, Thursday 13th May. Holy Communion Service at St Mary's Church, 7.30pm.

The Sunday Morning service in St Mary’s Church was very well attended this week, numbers are picking up as people are starting to realise that the world has become a safer place. Although the Covid precautions are still very much in use, providing we remain alert and taking care, light can be seen at the end of the tunnel at last! Precautions are still very much in place in St Mary’s but everyone attending is careful to follow the rules and remain healthy. But we are all looking forward to the day when all these restrictions are finally lifted across the whole country!

In his sermon on Sunday, the Rev Alex Wheatley talked about Christian Aid Week and how it was originally started as an organisation which raised money to help people in poorer counties around the world. This year, Christian Aid Week runs from May 9th to May 15th but because of the Covid regulations, there will be no physical collection this year, round the houses as we have previously done. This year, the Christian Aid organisation are encouraging potential Donors to use the official web page to donate on-line. The address to access to do this is: https://www.christianaid.org.uk/ Let’s hope we can keep up the traditional generosity of Potton people by using this facility this year.

On Thursday evening this week, May 13th at 7.30pm, there will be an Ascension Day Service in St Mary’s Church, symbolising Christ’s departure from this World to join God his Father, in Heaven. This marks the end of Easter on the Christian Calendar and we then enter the period of Pentecost. We hope many will come along to this lovely service.
