A New Year Dawns upon us, but will it be a better year than the last?

A Happy New Year to All, it’s good to be back and bringing you our Parish News.

Firstly, we hope everyone had a good Christmas in spite of the tight regulations imposed upon us and which are still imposed upon us. With the start of the vaccination programme at the Weatherley Centre in Biggleswade sometime soon, we hope that things will soon start to settle down so that our lives, so disturbed over the last year, will start to return to some sort of normality, but we fear it won’t happen too quickly! Keep praying for your family and friends, yourself and others for a brighter, healthier future.

Nick Wilson, our Church Organist, made his first appearance of the year on BigglesFM last Friday with his Thought for the Day. He will be back for the next one on January 22nd at 8.15am as usual, on 104.8Mhz on your radio, don’t forget to join him!

On January 8th, we said a fond but final goodbye to a long standing and much loved member of St Mary’s Church, Beryl Goodship, who died recently at the age of 94. She will best be remembered not only as a regular in our Congregation, but also as a Sunday School Teacher for many years and latterly, together with the late Eric Jakes MBE, made the after service refreshments on a Sunday morning, and served them up in the Church Hall. The small charge for this helped raise hundreds of pounds for the Children’s Society. Her funeral in St Mary’s Church, was attended by 20 people including one family member. The service was conducted by the Rev Rosemary Bentley from St Andrews Church, Biggleswade to whom we give our thanks for a lovely service.

Our Morning Service on Sunday, reverted to our well established Zoom method, led by the Rev Ray Porter from Gamlingay with a Service of the Word instead of the Holy Communion service he was going to do in church. Because of the current Covid regulations, we have decided services will not be held in church until it is safe to do so. Next Sunday’s service, January 17th, will be similar but led by Rdr David Kilpatrick. Services for the coming weeks, will be notified weekly and late changes will be on our website and Facebook pages. Stay safe!

The Rev Ray Porter from Gamlingay, a retired Priest but who has been a regular in helping with Services in our Benefice over the last few months. We are extremely grateful for his help to us!
