A Murder Mystery in Potton? Surely not so don't be alarmed!

After a few busy weeks at St Mary’s with Remembrance Sunday last week and other unusual events, we were back to a normal Sunday Morning Service of Holy Communion this week, led by the Rector, the Rev Alex Wheatley. The Choir were in good voice and as well as leading the hymn singing, they also sang a beautiful anthem, the Song of Mary, during Holy Communion. This means that the choir are almost back to their pre-Covid level. The choir is also now rehearsing for various Christmas services and it is hoped that many will come to enjoy the Christmas music and services that are being prepared. More about that in the coming weeks. Next Sunday’s Morning Service will again be Holy Communion with the Rev Alex.

As mentioned last week, Potton Playhouse put on two performances of “The Great British Bump Off”, a Murder Mystery written by one of their members. It was all about Potton’s 75th Annual Show, but particularly the cake judging competition. Inevitably there was rivalry between entrants and a dispute with a rather nasty specimen of an expert judge, who was later found dead! But it just so happened the Miss Marple was visiting and immediately took over solving the murder but with a lot of help from a lot of villagers, the audience! I have a feeling that Saturday’s audience named a different culprit to the Friday audience who were very convinced that it was the Vicar! Anyway, either way it was an entertaining evening with a most excellent hot meal served up by Paul and his team in the kitchen. Thank you Playhouse, you did us proud and helped to raise some money as well!
