A more normal Service pattern is now returning to our Churches.

Sunday’s morning service in St Mary’s Church, was Holy Communion conducted by the Rector, the Rev Alex Wheatley. The Rev Alex continued the story of Jesus’s presentation to those that would become his followers, but we nearly didn’t hear this continuation as the Rev Alex had accidently left his sermon in the church at Sutton from his earlier service there. However, all was not lost as someone found it and rushed it to Potton just before it was needed!

Next week on February 6th, our popular Friends and Family Morning Service returns, a service for all ages and with craft projects for the children. However, it was decided some weeks ago to host Friends and Family on Zoom in February. At that time the Covid situation was more severe and we felt it would be difficult to do the service in the way we love but with restrictions in place. Even at this stage it may be a sensible precaution and our plans are still in place. We fully intend to be back to normal in March. The link will be: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/81503383687

Also on February 6th, NightLight, our service for quiet contemplation, readings, music and prayer will return, in the evening. This will be broadcast again on Zoom from the church hall starting at 7.30pm and the link for this is: 432 851 790 access code 032720

Just a reminder that our First Steps toddler and baby group, meet from 9.30am to 11.30am every Friday in St Mary’s Church Hall, Hatley Road, Potton, SG19 2RP, opposite the church. Entry cost is only £1.50 per family and includes tea/coffee, cake, snacks, chatter and for the little ones, lots of toys to play with! For further information, contact Sandy on 01767 260430. In the evening, every other Friday, (Potton green bin day) Craft and Chatter, our informal Craft Group, meet at 7.30pm also in St Mary’s Church Hall. Bring along your current project and socialise with like minded new friends. Entry is £3 which includes refreshments. Plenty of room for new members so why not give it a try? Find us on Facebook for further details.

During the Autumn months, members of St Mary’s held a Gold Envelope (Talents) appeal. Each participant was given £10 in the envelope and invited to “go forth and multiply it!” Each person had to devise a scheme to make that £10 build into a really good final sum, which in the end, amounted to £1696.50p. There were some really good ideas to make our money grow! Thank you also to everybody who supported our Christmas Market stall in its various guises. Your generous support in providing items and buying them raised £650.51p. All proceeds go to church funds to help with repairs and improvements.
