Into Trinity

June 7, 2020

In our Zoom service on Trinity Sunday, Rdr Simon led the service as usual and welcomed 36 Benefice members from the 25 connections made that morning. There is still scope for more people to join in as not all our regulars were present but as last week, there were some newcomers which was very pleasing to see This week, we had a very interesting sermon from Bishop Alan Smith, the Bishop of the St Alban’s Diocese, sent by video link. On Sunday evening, the monthly NightLight service will also be held over our Zoom connection. Any member of St Mary’s, or the Benefice overall, who is not on the Sunday Link mailing list and wishes to be able receive joining instructions to take part in these services, should contact the church office at  benefice.com@gmail.com. Applications must be by email as there is no telephone link to the church office at this time. Next week’s ZOOM service will start at 10am so we hope a few more new members can join us. It seems likely that churches will be allowed to open for private prayer on June 15th but as yet, not for services, weddings and other services. We have not had as yet, the full implications of this new move, but we hope to be able to give that information next week.

During the general chat session after the service, our members from All Saints Church, Sutton reported that they had a plant stall running recently in the village and this raised £1000 for their funds so well done all who contributed.

Next Friday, June 19th, at 8.15am, our “furloughed” organist (well not really!) at St Mary’s, Nick Wilson, will give his Thought for the Day, speaking on the phone from his home in Potton over the BigglesFM airwaves, 104.8 on the dial so don’t forget to listen.

Again we see more relaxation of the lock down rules this week but we hope people continue to take care as we enter this phase but please remember, we still need to follow the social spacing rules. We continue to pray for an end very soon of this crisis in our World. Take care!
