This week in our Benefice
The Morning Service last Sunday was Holy Communion with the Rev Ray Porter from Gamlingay. There may be light at the end of our recruitment tunnel. The interviews for the new incumbent are being set up and will be conducted very soon but this still does not mean we are only weeks away from filling the post but at least once the selection has been made, we will know that it will happen probably during the summer months, so watch this space for more news. Meanwhile of course, we are extremely grateful for the help we have been given by the retired priest community. The service next Sunday morning will be our ever popular Friends and Family activity service with the theme of Lent. In the evening, at 7.30pm, we have our NightLight service of music, prayer and quiet contemplation. All are very welcome.
Lent starts this week on Ash Wednesday, February 26th. There will be a traditional service in the evening with marking of the Ashes, in St Mary's, at 7.30pm. All are welcome.
We are planning a Lent Housegroup based on the Archbishop of Canterbury’s Lent book for 2020, “Saying Yes to Life”. Full details for the course with dates, will be found on our website and Facebook pages, or call 01767 261470.
The World Day of Prayer will be celebrated with the Mother’s Union on Friday March 6th at 2pm.
Our First Steps toddler and baby group will be meeting on Friday in the church hall at the usual time of 9.30am. Further details about the group from group leader Sandy on 01767 260430. Morning Prayer services will be held next week, on Tuesday and Friday at St Mary’s, both services at 9am. These services maybe cancelled at short notice if no leader is available.
Every Friday afternoon at 2.45pm, a service is held at Sutton Church for all those in the Benefice who want to end the week with quiet prayer and communion with others. All are welcome.
All other church activities, and any changes, can be found on our website: www.pottonparishchurch.org.uk and on our Facebook page with the very latest updated information.
