The week in St Mary's Church

Last Sunday the morning service was our popular Friends and Family service with the theme of the Nativity! Also on the agenda was decorating the church and the Christmas Tree and we had a really good attendance to join in all these activities. Also last Sunday evening our monthly NightLight service of music, quiet contemplation and prayers took place. Next Sunday will be a service of Choral Holy Communion led by the Rev Canon Lyndsay Dew once more. In the afternoon that popular children’s service, Christingle, will take place at 4.30pm, led by Rdr Simon Gutteridge. All children and their Mums and Dads are very welcome to come along and enjoy this service. All the Advent and Christmas service listings for the benefice will be found on our website and Facebook page.

Our First Steps toddler and baby group will be meeting today, in the church hall at the usual time of 9.30am. Further details about the group from Sandy on 01767 260430. They will take a break over Christmas in line with the end of school term, returning early in the new year. Morning Prayer services will be held next week, at Sutton Church on Thursday, and on Tuesday and Friday at St Mary’s, all services at 9am. These services maybe cancelled at short notice if no leader is available. Every Friday afternoon at 2.45pm, a service is held at Sutton Church for all those in the Benefice who want to end the week with quiet prayer and communion with others. All are welcome.

Last Saturday, our events team organised a traditional Thanksgiving Dinner complete with an American menu which was really excellent and plenty of it. The reason there was plenty of it was because about 16 people who had booked, failed to turn up without letting us know. This was very disappointing as a lot of work goes into preparing over 40 meals, some of which were not needed. But thank you to our expert team of Chefs and helpers as the meal was one that was not to be missed!

Tomorrow, we welcome to St Mary’s, New Voices of Potton to perform their Christmas Concert so please come along and give them your support. See their posters around town for the full details.

All other church activities, and any changes, can be found on our website: www.pottonparishchurch.org.uk and on our Facebook page with the very latest updated information
