Remembrance Day 2019 in Potton

Once again there was an amazing attendance at this morning's Service of Remembrance, In bright sunshine and with a dry, mild morning, the first part of the service led by Rdr Simon Gutteridge of St Mary's Church and Robert from the Salvation Army was on the Square, with prayers, readings and hymns. Then followed a parade to the War Memorial in the Cemetery on Sandy Road where the names of Potton's Lost Sons was read out by Alan Leggatt and a small cross was placed in the ground near the memorial, each presented by a member of one of the Town's Children's or Youth Organisations. Poppy Wreaths were laid on the War memorial by all the Town's organisations and representatives of other organisations or individuals. Then followed the Last Post played by the Salvation Army Trumpeter and after the Two Minutes Silence had been observed, the Trumpeter played Reveille. The service finished with Prayers and the singing of the National Anthem. Once again the People of Potton did the Town proud on this special day!
