This Week in our Benefice

On Friday 13th (!), we welcome our church Organist, Nick Wilson to the local airwaves as he is giving his “Thought for the Day” at 8.15am on BigglesFM, 104.8 on the dial. Nick has some great stories and anecdotes and is well worth listening to!

Last Sunday, the Morning Service was conducted by a visiting Priest, the Rev Dr Ray Porter. He gave a very interesting sermon on slavery, something that has been happening since the human race began, it seems! He spoke mainly about slavery in Biblical times and how slaves were treated by their masters. An ugly piece of history, but still happening in this day and age of course.

Next Sunday, the Morning Service will be the shorter format Holy Communion, with of course, the Children’s Treasure Boxes. The service will be conducted by the Rev Margaret Marshall. All are very welcome.

Morning Prayer services will be held this week, at Sutton Church on Thursday, and on Tuesday and Friday at St Mary’s, all services at 9am. These services maybe cancelled at short notice if no leader is available. Our First Steps toddler and baby group will be meeting on Friday, in the church hall at the usual time of 9.30am. Further details about the group from Sandy on 01767 260430.

On Saturday September 14th, a Cream Tea afternoon will be held at Rosemary’s, 28 King Street, from 3-5pm. The cost is £5 and all the proceeds will be going to the Mother’s Union “Summer of Hope Appeal”. Everyone is very welcome

Don’t forget, the church office can now only be contacted on 01767 261202, please leave a message stating the reason for your enquiry, if necessary, and you will be contacted. E-mail: benefice.com@gmail.com
