Services and Activities at St Mary's

The service last Sunday morning was to celebrate our Patronal Festival. The service of Holy Communion was conducted by the Rector, the Rev Gill Smith assisted by LLW Hazel Różańska. In her address, Rev Gill spoke of God’s calling to us: who is called, why and when. In the case of Mary, God called her to tell she would bear him a son who would be called Jesus, but anyone could be called by God and he will always have a reason to do so. Later, during Communion, the choir sang an anthem about Mary, quite appropriate for a Patronal Service. Next Sunday, being the first Sunday of February, it is once more a Family and Friends service with Wendy and her team and this time it is a Lent special, preparing for Lent.

Morning Prayer services will be held next week, at Cockayne Hatley Church on Monday, Sutton Church on Thursday, and on Tuesday and Friday at St Mary’s, all services at 9am.

Our First Steps toddler and baby group meet on Friday as usual in the church hall at 9.30am. Details about the Group can be obtained from Group Organiser, Sandy, on 01767 260430. Our Craft and Chatter group meet next Friday evening and new members are cordially invited to come to the church hall at 7.30pm. Entry is only £2.50 which includes refreshments. This year’s meeting calendar is now available.
