Last week in our Church

The service last Sunday morning was the popular Friends and Family activity service, but this month we added a good flavour of the Harvest Festival season as donations were aimed at bringing a little bit of luxury into the lives of those that may need help. We saw donations of fancy foodstuff this week but these will be added to the usual Harvest Gifts which we will collect next Sunday at our full Harvest Festival Service. During the service, Baby Felix received Holy Baptism and as a 2 year old, he thought it was great fun especially when the Rev Gill poured the water over his head!

Our First Steps toddler and baby group meet today as usual in the church hall at 9.30am. Details about the Group can be obtained from Group Organiser, Sandy, on 01767 260430. Our popular Craft and Chatter group will meet next Friday evening, as usual at 7.30pm, in the church hall. Details from 01767 260792. Any craft and as much chatter as you want for £2.50 which includes refreshments! Morning Prayer services will be held next week, at Cockayne Hatley Church on Monday, Sutton Church on Thursday, and on Tuesday and Friday at St Mary’s, all services at 9am. All are welcome.

Next Sunday will be a busy day in church starting with the Benefice Holy Communion and our morning service of Harvest Holy Communion. In the afternoon, Potton’s Annual Civic Service will take place at 3pm. This is a celebration of all those who make life a little easier for the residents of our town, providing services that are not always visible to everyone and in some cases can provide help to the individuals who may need it. Potton Lower School Choir will sing during this service. Finally at 6.30pm a service in support of National Baby Loss Week will be held. Everyone is cordially invited to any of our services.

Coming soon, there will be a variety of events for our “Half Way There” outreach week during which the Bishop of Bedford will be joining us for much of the time. Look out next week for more news of events which commences on October 22 and finishes with the Conformation Service for over 20 candidates on October 28.

Even further ahead on November 3, we are holding our annual Bonfire and Firework spectacular, as usual on the church field. More details later but look out for our posters around Town very soon!

All other church activities, and any changes, can be found on the website: www.pottonparishchurch.org.uk and on our Facebook page with the very latest updated information.
