Churchwardens’ Interregnum Update 3
This year just seems to be flying past and the start of Advent is just a week away. Advent is a lovely a time of reflection on our Faith, followed by all the glitter and excitement as we approach our Lord’s birthday. Christmas Eve Midnight Mass at St. Mary’s Potton, will be led by the Bishop of Bedford and a Christmas morning service will be held in each of the parishes. Cards will be available in all the churches from this weekend giving the times of all services over the festive season. Please remember to add the additional Christmas services, events and activities to your diaries, and, if you have time, please post some into your neighbours’ doors so they can join us.
The Christmas Trees for each church have been organised, and many thanks go to Stephen Gravestock and Libby who have organised these for Potton and Sutton. In years gone past we have had donations of trees from Deepdale, and although they are unable to do this again this year, our thanks go to them for all they have given us over the years. Thank you Graham Daniels for trying for us again this year.
All the paperwork, concerning the recruitment of our new incumbent has been sent to the Archdeacon and is now in the process of being checked. An advert will be placed in The Church Times in the first week of January.
Our Parish Representatives on the interview panel will be:
Simon Gutteridge Reader for the Benefice
Hazel Rozanski Potton
Darren Brooker Sutton
Christine Armistead Cockayne Hatley
They will be supported by:
Gloria Crossley from Cockayne Hatley, Wendy Chappell from Potton and
Dawn Kerridge from Sutton
If you want to put forward any ideas for questions at the interview, these are always welcome. Please submit these no later than 31st January 2020, to those named earlier in this update or a member of your PCC. We have already had a couple of letters with comments, which will be taken into account by those representing us.
Your comments are so welcome, as the new rector will be leading our churches forward and meeting the needs of all our church families as we grow together in God.
The following work is planned or complete in each of our churches:
● St Mary’s Potton has some tree work being undertaken in January, and supervised by the Town Council with its usual consideration and efficiency.
● St John’s Cockayne Hatley have had some bulbs planted by a family around the church, which we are all so looking forward to seeing when Spring arrives. In addition, if you have time, do visit the completed renovation of some of the lovely wooden panels.
● All Saints Sutton have installed a small child area in one of the boxes, with cushions, toys and books to keep the children happy whilst the grown-ups are busy. This has been welcomed by all.
The fortnightly meeting of the Churchwardens is still on-going and I think most things are running smoothly. Your support is very much appreciated, and as always your prayers are welcome during this time not only asking for strength as we go forward, but for God to be pointing our new Rector in our direction.
Please do not hesitate to contact any of us if you want anything and thank you for being such a loving kind Church family.
