Why we thank our Retired Ministry Team

Our service of Holy Communion last Sunday was conducted by the Rev Gillian Orpin once again. The Rev Gillian, has conducted quite a few services for us during our vacancy and for that we have been very thankful. But how many of us really know the Rev Gillian? I think the answer to that is, very few. But over the last few weeks of her ministry for us, she has given us many interesting sermons involving her interests and how they fitted in with her church life. Her sermon on Sunday was exceptional, it was a cut down version of her life story and how God had helped her make decisions on where she should work and help others. The story is too long to write here but it involved meeting Dr Billy G

This Week in our Church

After last week’s announcement about the future installation of our new Rector, it’s all gone very quiet as we re-enter the waiting game, waiting for a start date when the Rev Alex Wheatley will be able to join us. We will just have to be patient and hope that it is not too far off! This Friday, 23rd, we welcome back to the local airwaves our church organist, Nick Wilson who will be bringing his Thought for the Day and other church news when he pays a “virtual” visit by telephone to the BigglesFM Studios at 8.15am. Tune in on 104.8 on the dial! Nick often has some good anecdotes to tell us as well and is quite interesting to listen to. The morning service last Sunday was a Service of the Wor

This week in our Benefice

Our Sunday service returned to Zoom this week with 28 on line participants for a Service of the Word including the sermon from the Rev Gillian Orpin recorded as she led the earlier Holy Communion at Cockayne Hatley Church. Usually on the first Sunday of the month, we have our popular Family and Friends service, a service enjoyed by many families up to the time of Lockdown. We hope to bring it back into the schedules as soon as we can. Next Sunday our service of Holy Communion will again be led by retired priest the Rev Gillian. On Sunday evening, at 6.30pm, we are once again holding our annual Little Stars service, a service of remembrance for all those who have lost a child in the early m

Little Stars "Wave of Light" Service

This service is being held on Sunday October 11th and full details can be found on a flyer published this week alongside the Sunday Link. The service is to commemorate who have suffered child loss in any way to meet and share experiences and feelings. Unfortunately, the Sunday Link shows the date as October 10th as an error crept in the last moment. If you would like to attend this year you must book a place due to the Covid-19 regulations limiting the numbers. Please call Fiona on 07771 755508 or email
