This week in our Benefice

Last Sunday morning at 10.30am, our Holy Communion service was led by retired priest the Rev Ray Porter from Gamlingay. At the start of the service, former Churchwarden Wendy made an announcement to thank the congregation and particularly the current Churchwardens Hazel and Brendan, for all the support and love given to her during a long period of illness which she is now coming out of. Everyone wished Wendy a full recovery and a return to normal life once more as she has been missed in church. Next Sunday our service returns to Zoom as we cannot yet have our Family and Friends service, a service enjoyed by many families up to the time of Lockdown. We hope to bring it back into the schedule

Last Sunday, the morning service at 10.30am, was led by Rdr David Kilpatrick with the “Service of the Word”, the service based on the Holy Communion service but without the Communion! Next Sunday at 10.30am, there will be the full Holy Communion service which will be led by a retired priest. St Mary’s is open for private prayer on Monday, Thursday and Sunday of each week. Please follow the advice given in church for

At the service, we had hoped we would hear if a new Rector had been appointed, but that news has not yet been given, hopefully we will hear soon. Next Sunday, September 20th, the morning service at 10.30am, will be Lay Reader led “Service of the Word”. Last Friday morning, our church organist, Nick Wilson gave his “Thought for the Day” on BigglesFM 104.8 on the dial, with all the latest news from St Mary’s. Nick will next be on air wi

This could be the week when we appoint a new Rector!

Next Friday morning, September 11th at 8.15am, our church organist, Nick Wilson will give his “Thought for the Day” on BigglesFM 104.8 on the dial, with all the latest news from St Mary’s. Nick will next be on air with his Thoughts and other news on September 25th. Last Sunday, we reverted to a Zoom on line service led by Rdr Simon at 10.30am. There ten connections and 16 people taking part, down on numbers this week because there was a service of Holy Communion and Holy Baptism at Sutton Church at the same time and there had already been a service of Holy Communion at Cockayne Hatley Church. Nevertheless, it was a good service and Rdr Simon incorporated into it, the sermon given earlier at
