Good Friday 2011
The three Potton Churches that form the Potton Churches Together movement, The Salvation
Army, The Vineyard Church and the Parish Church of St Mary, came together for the
annual Walk of Witness, a dramatized open air service, on Good Friday morning. After
an introduction and prayers at St Mary’s Church Hall, a re-enactment of some of the
events of the First Good Friday, the trial of Jesus and his walk carrying his Cross
to his place of Crucifixion, took place at the Hall, a grassy area at the end of
King Street and finally in the Market Square. A group of members from all three
churches, played the different parts and their script was based on accounts from
the Bible. A large crowd followed the Cross from the Hall, along King Street and
into the Market Square where the proceedings were concluded with hymns and prayers.
Finally, Coffee and Hot Cross Buns were served by the Vineyard Church ably assisted
by helpers from the other churches. Below are pictures taken at various points on
the walk.
